I think you might be describing "Greenshield".  Although I think that is the
name of a company like "romax" and not describing a specific cable.  The
stuff I remember that had an outer metal shield was used outside or where
the cable might be damaged.  It was used mainly in commercial applications
not residential construction.  Then again my memory is getting bad.  I have
gotten to a place where I can hide my own Easter eggs!
