Chris,

Most mount those caps with a bracket behind the faceplate and use a 1/4"
to 1/2" shaft extender through a shaft bushing. The shaft bushing is set
through a round hole in the faceplate and held on the back side with a
nut. Then the shaft extenders 1/4" male part goes through it. On its aft
end is a female 1/2" hole to mate up with the cap. It simpley attaches
to the 1/2" shaft with a set screw. this way standard 1/4" knobs will work.

Will

It's a Russian vacuum cap with a continuous .50" shaft. No collet.

Is the shaft 0.5" or is there a 0.5" collet at the end of a 0.25"drive
shaft?
