If you have a supply of each, availability and replacement aren't an issue. If you stay within the Eimac class AB1 specifications (which none of us ever exceed,right?), two 4CX300's will take 2500 volts on the anode for 1250 watts input and 800 watts output while two 4CX250's with 2000 volts on the anode at 1000 watts input and 600 watts output. It is my opinion there is less air restriction up through the 4CX300 socket, less back pressure for slightly easer cooling. I like you have a supply of both types and sockets and am building my amplifier with three 4CX300's.
