A swinging- choke reduces its inductance as current increases.  A  
(non-swinging) / fixed-choke has semi-constant inductance as current  
increases or decreases.  Thus, a fixed choke is usually chosen for a  
resonant circuit. One type has an air-gap in the core and the other  
does not, but I forgot which is what.
