You might want to check out the glass chimney replacements sold for 
Coleman lanterns. They could not be more perfect for a GS-35b if they 
were designed for it. They are just tall enough to cover the fins and 
are wide enough to leave about a 1/8 inch gap all around.

The only problem is mounting it. I did a sort of kludgey thing with 
clamps, but next time I think I'll just glue it down with a bead of 
silicon RTV. RTV adheres perfectly to both glass and metal, has a 
very high temperature capability and can be easily removed when 
desired with a knife. Make some temporary shims to hold the chimney 
in place while the RTV dries. You probably don't need a full bead all 
the way around, just three or four drops in strategic places.
