[Amps] Grid Vs cathode drive

Hi,Guys,
  Why many Amplifiers using cathode driven?why not grid ?
  it with only one advantage of cathode drive: it  seems more 
 stable than grid drive.but it needs Pi input network and more
 driving power.The amp with grid drive  almost needs not driving power
 and input network,it means we can let the fianl work in Class A, the better IMD per formance,
or we can drive the amplifier using a QRP rig?
