    Thanks for the suggestions,
  There is a model store here in Japan and I will check it out along with the small parts website for potential future usage.  I found an item on ebay for compression union fitting that does not require a flaring tool and uses compression between the two brake lines.  Cost is 2 bucks plus shipping, I'll give it a try, here is the link:

Small Parts Inc. has an assortment of small sizes of telescoping copper 
tubing. They have a larger selection of telescoping brass tubing in 1/32" steps if 
that would work for your purpose for an adapter joint between different sizes
