If you are building your own transmitter or amplifier, a separate box can be
designated as part of the amplifier to meet the rules. Since you are the
designer of the amplifier, all you need to do is designate that certain
external components are part of the amplifier. With homebuilt aircraft, you
can write your own manual or install placards to meet requirements.
So, on the back of the transmitter or amplifier, designate a certain
accessory as part of the amplifier and you have complied - even if that is a
manufactured unit. Note in the language that it may not be operated without
that particular external unit. You make the rules to fit the FCC rules.
