[Amps] Peak power ratings

I have to laugh when the industry started to rate AC motors in PEAK POWER,  
like the wet/dry vac's and circular saws.  Have you seen some of these  
numbers?  A 5 pound circular saw with a 3HP peak motor.  I have a 2 hp  motor on my 
compressor that weighs about 20 pounds or more.  So when is it  that the little 
saw motor is at 3 HP?  When it first starts up and its  drawing 100 times its 
running current?  Hogwash.   Lou
