[Amps] HV switching power supplys?

What's the latest on this? I'd heard of one outfit that claimed they'd have  
a 
4KV at 2 amp switching power supply ready for sale 6 months ago, but  haven't 
heard
anything about it since.
What do you guys think? Are switching HV power supplies going to be the way  
to go
in the near future, or is that just wishful thinking?  Anybody have  anything 
in the
works along those lines?
