It's 50mm OD x 125 tall (2in x 5in in old money) but a ceramic former is 
very unlikely to have holes in the right places for securing the two 
separate windings. That's where a Teflon former would score, in terms of 
being able to drill it easily.

"No former", as Paul suggests, would be even better. Maybe a couple of 
Teflon pillars might do it.

Or maybe simply vent the smell into the roof space.
