Thats right Harold.
But when one switches the amp on the switching of the triac can be heard on 
the HF transceiver.
However, this is not really an issue since it disappears in approx. 2 
seconds. I haven't heard of any problems with this softstarter so I guess it 
is a technically sound solution.
At least in my twin GU84B amp with 3 phase power supply the 3 softstarters 
(one per phase) perform very well.
