[Amps] 813 amps

The 813 will really sing in Grid Driven, but I only ran them in grounded
grid.

When I built my amp in 1971 the 813 was very plentiful in both new and
surplus channels. Today good tubes are considerably harder to come by.

In the right channels it's easier to get good 833A's than the 813. I'd build
up a bunch of 833's before an 813 amp if I was doing it today.

However like you say Carl, when guys are used to things like 811A's an 813
is a SUPER POWER tube in comparison. The good thing about the 813 is it
didn't make enough power to seriously hurt itself and it made a very good
learner tube.

A 572B is probably a smarter choice for an amp today as you can get reloads
when you launch the old ones.

I know that many folks know about the 813 tubes.!! But , how many know
what that tube is
 "really" capable of doing ??
It may be an old tube, but it is capable of at least as much as some
"newer" tubes, and according to some books the IMD is better , at least
in GG..!!!
Can anyone dispute this ?? (powerwise it may be less, but what does
it take to "double your power level !!!) ???????? (how about the price ???)
      Just wondering !!!!!!
