Alex,

Like I said I can fry a tuner that will take 500W  at 100 W 
or less if I tune it wrong.

It's all about how you tune it.

The issue is almost always voltage in the network and 
voltage holdoff in the switch. Normally a switch is sized to 
fail slightly after the capacitors arc.

I wouldn't use a Lorlin CK1458. It's a single pole so you 
can't short the unused coil area out. That's bad news on 
high bands.

How many positions do you need?
