[Amps] Mil-Spec Fil Xfmr performance

It's not uncommon for Mil spec ratings to be such as to allow a lower temperature rise in the transformer windings, thus letting you 'push' things  a bit. This allows for such extremes in mil use as higher ambient temperatures, for example, than you'd have usually in the shack - unless you live in Phoenix in summer and don't turn on the A/C! So you'd probably run at about 1000 to 1200 Amps/square inch rather than 1500, and quite possibly at a  lower flux desnity in the iron, too, all of which would allow  normal amateur use at the 28 Amps a pair of 4-400s wants without too much strain. Overunning oil filled transformers can be a bit more dodgy, because if they get too hot, the pressure can burst the seals and it gets AWFULLY messy! Don't ask how I know........
