Dielectric in Raymond, ME might be a source for the 3 1/8" adaptor. Out
of the broadcast business for 4 1/2 years, not sure if that's the current name
or became a part of Andrew.

I believe a rule of thumb is 1" per 20 Kv.. Not sure memory fades.

On the step start resistor. You replaced with 25 watt, what value?
Does the relay short the resistor? Should only be in the circuit for a short
time, then the relay shorts it out ...
