[Amps] current in primary of microwave oven transformer

I've been searching (without succss) for a post I remember where 
someone talked about the ratings on these transformers and how the 
primary current dropped if you reduced the line voltage a bit. I 
think one suggestion was to add a few turns of 'buck' winding in 
the space where the shunts are removed.
