I have found that is usually the case.  Bill Orr (SK) was far from a quack.

I would ask your "guru" :

1. How long He worked for Eimac?
2. How many books/articles/white papers has He written?
3. How many times He has won Dayton's Technical Excellence award for his 
contributions to the hobby?
