Hi Rich.

There *may* be some cunning impedence reason but my guess is that the main
driver for using Teflon insulated wire is good HV insulation coupled with
low diameter.

Personally, I find the stripped out inner conductor line from strag ends of
decent coax to be more than adequate for mine.  And free.

Mechanical strength and water resistance of the whole job is far more
important to me than the RF performance.  Corrosion and mechanical stress
kills my baluns, not the wrong kind of insulation.  Mind you, I do use
appropriate size and types of core given the power level and band.
