Hah hah haa... Yeah, I'm waiting for someone to remind me that I'm STILL a 
novice!

I haven't built an amplifier in many years. And when I tell you the last one 
was a single 4-1000A,  that ought to date it for you. Prior to that I built 
a 3 tube 572 and it was more-or-less and open "bread board" design on a 
chassis and a front panel only. Imagine the TVI!

We joke about these things, but my first transmitter was a pair of 6L6s
running the legal limit (75W for a Novice)  constructed on the corner of
one of those huge steel TV  chassis from the early 60's.  It used the TV
Set PS, actually worked well, and hand shield none. <:-))  I did have to
replace all the wire wound resistors with carbon composition before I
could get it to work though. <:-))  No one had ever indicated that might
cause a few problems.

At least it didn't have a messy looking cabinet as it didn't have a cabinet.
