At WW2Y/K2WI/N2NU contest stations, we found that the Titan 425 did not switch fast enough for the rigs we were using.  We placed a speed-up diode from the keying output of the keyer to the PTT of the amp so that the keyer drew in the amp directly.  The PTT line from the transceiver would then hold the amp for the rest of the transmission.  The Titan's relays lasted for years after that change was implemented.
