What a beautiful candidate for a pulse-width modulator for
AM or Kahn-method SSB!  That is precisely what the
500 kW shortwave transmitters by Continental do.  48
separate 700 volt supplies, all stacked in series.  Each
such supply has its own pulse-width modulator.
