REPLY:

I have an SB-1000 that had a defective padder capacitor brand new
right out of the box. This is the little doorknob type cap. The screw
connection is soldered to the ceramic and the solder joint had broken
loose. I resoldered it and it has worked fine ever since. Hope this
helps.
