Jim, I think you missed the statement that the cores are 1-1/8" long. This makes them 
equivalent to several of the usual "lifesaver-shaped" ones. The effect is proportional to 
the total length, not the number of cores, since the ferrite particles are insulated from 
each other anyway.

Assuming that the material is appropriate, of course.
