[Amps] 200 watt transceivers?

Guys:

No, doubt as one of the younger members of this list (43), I do see the value at times in questions such as this.

While we all know that certain frequencies are limited to way less that 1500 watts PEP out, what is wrong with someone simply inquiring about the capability of their equipment.

There are many, many amplifiers out there that will breeze past the "speed limit." Simply because one has it does not mean one will abuse it.

I would liken this to my other hobby of automobiles. Just because your neighbor has a late model Corvette in his driveway, does not mean he goes out and runs it up to 180 mph regularly if at all. Would it be appropriate to make that assumption?

Seems to me that making such judgements without any indication that the said action is being done serves no good will, and could come off as the group being one that says, "do as we say, but not as we might do if we choose to."

If I visit an auto web site and inquire from fellow GP owners at to the top speed of my 07 Pontiac Grand Prix with its 260hp supercharged engine, I am looking for a simple numerical reply and welcome to the group, not an aloof reminder of the speed regulations.
Just because the car will do it does not mean I am going to.

Possibly something to keep in mind.                           Don
