Ditto Carl's comments. I've used RG213 for years without issues.

I did buy some 20kv ht wire from the fleamarket at Friedrichshafen one year but have  no idea where to source some.  I tend to fill the shack (and garage, and attic) with stuff I think I'll need one day as I find it El Cheapo at hamfests.  Which is probably why I have half the world supply of junk....

I wouldnt trust RG-8 as the jacket will eventually pollute the dielectric.

Thats why RG-213 was developed and Ive seen that used at 20KV in industrial 
applications. Ive used it at 6KV with mil spec N connectors and never lost a 
HV fuse.
