I had the same problem with my Genie Accelerator garage door opener and 
Genie was not able to help me.  I finally solved the problem completely by 
putting a .01 disk cap between the 2 terminals that connect to the actuator 
switch that is by your door into the house.  Since one of these terminals is 
ground, there is no need to bypass both of them.  No problems since.
