[Amps] plate bypass caps

I did not give enough info. My loading cap is a 2100 pF variable. In case
I need to pad that for tuning 160m, I was thinking of a 500pF padder that I
can switch in. Running through PI-EL again, it looks like 1 to 2 amps of
current would go through the padder.

>From: "Jim W7RY" You have to know the value of the cap to know what the
>current value is. 7 amps at 420 volts for what value of capacitance?

>>I have quite a few of the old-style transmitting mica caps (C-D, Sangamo,
>>Solar, etc.). Are these okay to use in a nearly-legal-limit amp for
>>either plate-choke bypassing, or antenna load padders? Some of these are
>>marked for 2500 working volts.
