[Amps] monitoring tube seal temps

You can probably use the pyroelectric detector from a junked IR movement
detector use in burglar alarms. They are quite sensitive and you can use
very simple optics, if needed, to measure temperature at choice points. Of
course you have to calibrate them, but since this is entails only setting
the trip point at a fixed distance, it should be quite easy to do. The
electronics should be simple: a comparator should suffice.

Excellent idea, if the components are available. I have used a temperature
gun
directly and it works great, if one can access the seals while the amp is
operating. RF makes it go nuts, so you have to power off and take the
measurement immediately, but it does the job.
