My wife has sometimes likened DXCC/IOTA chasing and contesting to a particular flavour of obsessive-compulsive disorder, so you may have a point.

I think it'd be an interesting exercise to clean the thing up and see if it really does work

IF it sells at any price, two things will become glaringly apparent.
1.  Some folks will put anything up for sale.
