My first overclock was with my 4 MHz 8086 and I got A 1 MHz OC out of
it. The next was with my 6 MHz 80286 ATTACK board & chip & I got an
extra 2 Mhz out of that. Did the watercooling route & all that. My
desktop today is a 2.6 Ghz quad and I have it overclocked to 3.6 Ghz
with air cooling and it the processor sensor reads about 106 F unless
I'm running BOINC with SETI and then it's @ 120F with all 4 cores
working 100%. Never have bought an assembled computer other than a
then new TRS-80, a VIC 20 and the laptop I'm typing this on.

The fatuous naysayers who say gloom & doom regarding overclocking are
wrong, it can be done with no untoward effects IF you know exactly
which components to purchase, how to set them up in the bios to work
together and the software necessary to test the effacy and
competentcy of your setup.

I suspect the same holds true for modified Ham Radio Amplifiers on
frequencies they and their tubes are not generally considered useable
on.
