Transformers: After using a "pole pig" for 30 years,  2600Volt in a voltage doubler ckt with variac, it's getting a little noisy these days. I am thinking about doing a rewind this winter (increasing the size of wire on secondary and decreasing the size on the primary for more current capacity, new paper etc.  and changing to a bridge rectifier  ckt.(. Can someone reccommend a book on the principles of transformers. Maybe someone has tried this already and failed, or had great success, or excessive hum etc.......Thanks, K4AVC
