Good question too! I guess the fundamental question is why did Ten Tec select 90 CFM fan instead of 250 CFM.

If you put too much air around a tube, won't the aerodynamics of the
convection structure come into play creating votexes and/or diversion of or
an uneven airflow past select surface area that needs air flowing over it?
