I am learning so much from this list.
I am thinking about using a power transistor
(a 1,200 to 1,500 Volt - horizontal output) in a bridge
rectifier as a SS relay in the PS that I am rebuilding.
Driven by digital logic including excessive PS current
OL and the idea of "ramping up on start" intrigues me,
this eliminates the need for the SS relay, but I plan on
stopping the AC upon discovery of excessive current
not waiting for a zero crossing, to minimize "carry over
current" in the even of a fault. The B+ transformer
should draw a maximum of 7 Amps from 120 Volts.
I would use a 25 or 35 Amp @ 500 Volts or more bridge in the
power switch. This is for my 2 X 813 80-10 home brew amp.
See you at the Orlando HAMcation next week.
