I'm replying to this particular message, but I want to thank everyone else who responded
to my query, on and off list.

The consensus of opinion is:

1) Forget the tripler circuit unless I want to use only one 813.
2) Watch the insulation of the transformer ct if using a bridge or doubler.
3) The 1700 volts or so that I would get from the doubler is not really enough to properly
utilize 813's.

One guy said that the transformer capacity is only 197 VA; but he is ignoring the duty
cycle -- in the TV set it was 100% -- and the fact that there is another 116 VA in unused
filament windings. So the primary is good for 313 VA continuous. I was doubling that to
allow for the duty cycle. I agree that this is skating on the edge (standard ham practice,
right?)

However... the 813's deserve better. So I think I am going to look around for a
transformer that I can get 2400 - 2800 V at 350 - 400 mA from.
