I'm not sure how representative that price may be.  I see 8877s listed 
for over $1700 each.  Are they really that high?  I used to pay $305 
each in lots of one.  OTOH that was a bit farther back than yesterday. <:-))

As an aside, you can purchase a tested pull YC-156 with a guarantee for 
about $385
