[Amps] Value, part 3 (final)

Sitting back watching this, I think I would pay RF Parts $400 before I paid
a stranger on the net $40 for something with condition unknown. Even with
the strangers 100% refund guarantee. Having a known, trusted, and
accountable entity to deal with is not the same as buying basement or attic
finds. Short of demonstrating the tube at FULL Voltage and showing high
output, you have a pig in the poke.

I don't think anyone here is off base. They gave you honest advise that
would apply to one of them selling it. The low offers you got were from
folks buying a "pig in a poke". I don't think they were trying to be mean to
you or cheat you. It is not personal, just someone taking a risk with you. I
think you have what you have until YOU can demonstrate it is good, a pig in
a poke.

Sam

If you are asking "Fair Market Value" you have to consider the market , a
broadcast engineer that HAS to have a transmitter up yesterday will pay
whatever he has to , after all he is spending some one elses money , in the
ham market it is a totaly differet story, I have a 4-1000 here and if
someone knocked on my door with 75 bucks he would have it LOL , I am looking
for a few 4-400's , but I will wait and get some at the fleafests for 35 or
40 a peice , there is no way in hell I would pay the "pull" price that RF
Parts ask nor do I think any other educated ham would
