Just an idle mind question for a sultry day before the holiday:

Has anyone ever attempted using a ACVFD ahead of a 3 phase transformer?

You would have single phase power converted to three-phase and soft start at 
least and it may even work to vary the voltage. You would also possibly 
have rfi to filter from the mains but a do-able task.

With drives 5hp to 10hp becoming low dollar commodities I thought it worth 
asking "has anyone ever tried this"
