[Amps] Ameritron Front Panel Material?

Early Ameritrons used a steel clamshell, I guess shipping weight vs aluminum 
cost won out however the baseplate of a recent AL-811 I worked on was steel. 
I know that because I had to drill new holes for the replacement 
transformer.
