Jo Emmett Jennings, W6EI of Jennings vacuum capacitor fame. His KW amps were 
homebrew and in the trunk of his Caddy and an earlier Lincoln. 1000W PEP on 
SSB out of a pair of water cooled small tetrodes, 4CX600's I believe.
