I had them build a couple of xfmrs for me back in the 70s and 80s, and still use one (BTC 11145) on my 8877 amp. At full bore contest mode, it is still cool to the touch, with very good regulation (drops from 4700V to 4400V @ 1A.  Your xfmr was most likely a heavy duty custom replacement for the original Alpha xfmr.
