You "know" WRONG!  This is one of those often repeated myths with little 
basis in fact. A properly done coax connection is essentially lossless 
at HF.  Loss in a switch depends on the quality of the switch. There are 
commonly available relays and switches and connectors with loss too low 
to measure, and there are poorly built and junk parts that will 
overheat, go intermittent, and/or fail.
