[Amps] plate voltage meter MULTIPLIER

   Hi  Douglas W9IIX Johnson:

the meter has a 1ma fs rating.  the serial resistance I have made up
in the past has been 3 watt metal film resistors in series.
Since they can only rated for 200v per resistor it takes many to do the job.
Can some other resistor type with a higher rating be used in a safe manner
for this purpose?

   High Voltage and resistance resistors exist, but since so may resistance and power values exist 
it is not practical for manufacturers to produce them all, with almost no demand.  Equipment 
manufacturers order what they need in large lots, so one simple part need be installed.  (a custom 
order)
   High Voltage resistors exist and are produced in "common resistance values," but they are more 
expensive.
   Higher power resistors exist although usually in higher resistance tolerances than we need as 
meter MULTIPLIERS and the bleeder string, equipment manufacturers order high power resistors that 
they need with low resistance tolerances in large lots to be used as "bleeder string and meter 
MULTIPLIERS."
   Usually the most reasonably priced alternative is to use lower resistance tolerance higher power 
bleeder string resistors and a calibrating potentiometer for high Voltage metering.
