[Amps] Heathkit SB-1000 Arcing

I had an old amp that was arcing inside one of the electrolytic caps.  The cap got hot very fast within 2 - 3 seconds and you could feel the temp difference between the good and the arcing cap.  As always make sure that the caps are discharged before putting your hands in there!!!

Thanks much for the responses. I checked everything suggested but no joy.

I even resoldered all connections. The capacitors were put in by a previous owner and are supposed to be new. They checked out okay.

The arcing sound is definitely coming from the power supply area but even in the dark I can't see the flash of light, bizarre. It's time to sell the
SB-1000 at a bargain price.
