It depends upon the tube Gary, some are known to degrade (outgas) and others 
arent. A few have poor air seals and turn to paperweights.

If you have the means to regetter before applying full HV or RF then do it. 
Most of the indirectly heated types just require a day or so of filament 
voltage only.

Otherwise pull a Dirty Harry.
