That's right Peter; agree in respect of triodes...tetrodes where plate
current is relatively independent of plate voltage might be a slightly
different matter. However a well designed amp will not need low duty cycle
pulse tuning like many lightweight amps with bouncing HV B+ supplies and
marginally rated tank components amps benefit from.

I agree with Bill, W6WRT. Especially with triodes, if the HV sags a bit, so
what? The required plate load impedance won't change that much when the
volts go up because the current goes up as well.

I really don't understand why anyone feels the need to use a pulser for
tuneup.

If your amp can't do full power for the few seconds needed for a tuneup,
you're pushing it too hard anyway, IMO.
