I've spent many hundreds of hours working with glass fiber. It does have
many advantages, quite a few frailties, some of which are surprising.
One of its major weaknesses is water. The tiny fibers are easily damage
out in the environment if they are not protected
They teach you that right at the beginning when working with composite
aircraft. Unfortunately the resin and epoxies are also easily degraded
by UV
