This specific IC-2KL question about 10-meter kit was answered on QRZ Q&A, a couple of times.

QRZ 2011 question:

QRZ 2008 question:

The 10/12 modification for the Icom IC-2KL is NOT an "easy cut a wire" !!
It requires a specific KIT of parts (capacitors, coils, etc.) and requires surgery on various PC boards within the unit.
The technician instructions consist of 22 steps (disassemble and steps for mod installation) ..
THEN you have to reassemble by reversing the previous 22 steps covered.

The original Icom IC-2KL kit of parts for the 10 meter modification is NO LONGER AVALABLE available from Icom !!

Icom IC-2KL manuals (and 10/12 instructions) at bottom of this web page

Scott Malcom at MTS in Toledo, WA.
Scott does perform Icom service work and MAY have the kit of parts.

BTW, Icom has a service bulletin (KB Article Number 729E66499A; May 1, 1989)
for this IC-2KL amplifier about potential failure of C8 and C9, causing oscillations in amplifier.

Alan Applegate, K0BG is an owner of Two Icom IC-2KL amplifiers, he added this:

It depends on the serial number of IC-2KL too.
Some intermediate IC-2KL units had 10 meters pre-installed, but the front panel switch position wasn't there. Thus operating on 10 meters, required the correct band voltage to be applied.
I have two 2KLs, and this is the case with both of them.

As mentioned earlier, if this isn't the case, you'd best forget the modification - because the requisite parts are no longer available from Icom. Period! --K0BG
