While this is true, some people pass the amateur extra test without
studying anything. I and one friend are two that I know that did, we
know electronics. I knew all of the answers to all questions save two
that I never heard of. (I guessed that it was about a form of modulation)
I had to study the general test, most of that is not about
electronics. That I had to learn by memorization as many must do to
pass the extra.
I took both at one setting, going from tech+ to extra in an hour.
All I ever wanted to be is a general and that is the one thing I never
was. (never advanced either)
