All Yaesu serial numbers are of the same format:

> Serial Numbers - Decoding

> Serial number format is YMLLUUUU where
> Y is the last digit of the year,
> M is the month with C = Jan, D = Feb and so on,
> LL is the lot number (CPU is programmed by lot number & service bulletins
>    are also referenced by lot number, not date), and
> UUUU is the unit number within the lot.

For a product like the Quadra which was produced in at least two - if
not three - decades the "Y" character must be tempered by the lot
number.
